All About Me |
A little bit about Mrs. Schrotzberger ~
I have lived in Scappoose for the past eighteen years. My husband and I are raising two daughters. Both girls attend Scappoose schools; Kaylie is a Senior and Addison is a Sophomore, both at Scappoose High School.
We are a very active family and love all that the Scappoose area has to offer. Our most current favorite hobby is kayaking in the Scappoose Bay, however you will often find us on the soccer field, at the track or in a gymnasium watching a dance competition.
I love everything about the outdoors. I love to run when I can find the time. I have finished a couple of half marathons and a marathon (I rocked this - ran/walked). I have also climbed an active volcano twice and plan to go up again soon, can you guess which volcano this is?
I enjoy camping, reading, running, walking, backyard BBQ's with friends and so much more. Another favorite activity is getting up early at the Oregon Coast and sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee and watching the ocean.
I am excited to be in my seventh year as a First Grade teacher with the Scappoose School District, where I can be a part of the wonderful school community focused on learning for the "whole" child.
My path to becoming a teacher:
I began my path to where I am today after I graduated from college and had children. My husband and I found a fabulous preschool to send our daughters to. While my youngest daughter was attending, they needed a substitute teacher, I gladly accepted that role and began covering at least 1-2 days/week. Each year after that, I took on more and more responsibility until my final full year, I became a head teacher and provided administrative support while the director was offsite. I fell in love with teaching preschool and quickly discovered that while challenging, it was so rewarding to see the growth of each and every special friend.
About half way through my time teaching my preschoolers, I decided that I wanted to go back to school and obtain my teaching license. I gave my notice at the end of the school year with the understanding that I would work until winter break of the next school year and then would join Concordia University's Masters of Teaching program. I applied to the program, was accepted and in January of 2015, I joined the teaching program. With the support of the wonderful administration, teaching staff and my wonderful cohort at Concordia University, I graduated in December of the same year. The following summer, I was hired at Scappoose school district and am excited to share my knowledge and love of teaching and learning to help students grow each year.
